For instance, simply attempting to set an agenda for meetings caused my colleagues to accuse me of “whitespeaking,” “whitesplaining,” and reinforcing “white supremacy”—accusations I had never faced before. I was initially baffled, but as I attended workshops led by my officemates and promoted by my supervising dean, I repeatedly encountered a presentation slide titled “Characteristics of White-Supremacy Culture” that denounced qualities like “sense of urgency” and “worship of the written word.” Written meeting agendas apparently checked both boxes.

Getting anything accomplished is White supremacy, even when it's a Black DEI Commissar trying to herd cats.

They don’t care about building anything. Their only concern is subverting existing organizations and setting up a pecking order with them on top. Sometimes they try to get more slaves allies by disguising what their organization is about, but they’re not very good at it, so taking over what someone else has built is their way to go.

Its so weird that any tools used to create actual change - such as objective measures of progress, documentation or accountability - are labeled as white supremacy. These are basic project management concepts...how can you get anything done without them? Its almost like these types of organizations want to keep a grift running as long as possible, which implicitly means avoiding solving the problems they exist to solve.

As a white dude who actually has to work if I expect to keep getting a paycheck, I can’t even begin to describe how a lot of my hatred for these people is just sheer jealousy. I’d literally trade in all of my white privilege if it meant I could have a career and job security as good as this (and useful health insurance, I’d like that as well).

The worst implication of these doctrines is that keeping a schedule and being goal oriented are just too hard for non whites to adhere to, and must therefore be rejected as essentially white and scrapped entirely. Picking up your ball and going home before you even play the game.

And doing it on behalf of millions of people you claim to speak for who are nonetheless succeeding by practicing those qualities of self management. It would be one thing if all non white people genuinely could not manage themselves in a professional environment, but that's just not the case at all in my experience.

It's just pathetic and pseudo intellectual all around. If non white people can successfully adopt practices that may or may not have originated in white cultures, then the practices are not and never were essentially white. They belong to anyone willing to adopt them. And it's abundantly evident that this is the case, with a few stragglers who are prejudiced against it.

It's been a thousand years since the Norman Conquest and if you live in England and have a French last name you're much more likely to be wealthy. CRT/SocJus/Wokeness never, ever achieve any material gains, because they're all about merely symbolic power. That's what gets them the hundreds of millions in corporate donations - they not only aren't a threat to the ruling class, they actively dismantle any threats to it.

But they must suspect that someday there will be a reckoning. So they stigmatize and eschew metrics, documentation, performance reviews, concrete goals and the like. This makes it impossible to ever hold them to account.

And that means the grift will never stop.

Something everyone here is missing is that a central tenet of their ideology is cultural relativism. They believe that modern White American society is not better or more advanced than hunter gatherers living in central Africa. And these hunterer gathers don't have writing, planned agendas for meetings, a sense of urgency, etc.

So when you argue that these things are necessary to achieve goals or be successful, you are implicitly arguing that Western society is superior to traditional African societies, which is White supremacist.

You can stop here. Postmodernity in it's current popular interpretation rejects objectivity itself. Once you take that leap, not getting anything done is it's own kind of getting something done (or at least equally valid), goal directed behavior is colonialism (or whatever you want to finish that phrase with), etc.

Id really like to know whats the end goal here. Reading this article and then the npr article i get a weird feeling about the future if these people get more power.

Its undeniable that white people are the most successful races on earth. Its mainly our culture thats responsible for us being able to fly to the moon while people in Africa didn't knew how to build 2 story buildings.

But reading this i get the feeling that all virtues, values and practices are now something bad. In the npr article someone there claim civilty is a tool of oppression.

Why is noone fighting back against this culture?

My crime at De Anza was running afoul of the tenets of critical social justice, a worldview that understands knowledge as relative and tied to unequal identity-based power dynamics that must be exposed and dismantled

internalised racism strikes again. adherence to schedules, much like love of the written word, is well known to be a white supremacist construct, and no its somehow not racist towards black people to suggest this.

anyone wanna take bets on the race of her average colleague, the ones who found her more nuanced approach so objectionable?

Maybe the trick is to try to schedule or accomplish things, decry your own efforts as white supremacy, and then repeat ad nauseum. How would they out-crazy that approach?

God, who was the (kind of terrible) stand up comedian who was already very culturally left (vegan, etc) when the woke stuff came along and had a pretty successful sideline with a woke podcast with this girlfriend/wife, but then the community turned on him on a dime and he went on Rogan (and a bunch of other media) and talked about the day-to-day of running a woke media presence? It's killing me trying to remember. He was in an open relationship (her idea) and was basically accused of using his notoriety to have sex with one or two women who were sexually attracted to him because of his notoriety.

Shit, maybe I'll think of it. He went on Stanhope's podcast if that helps.

This is EXACTLY what you are NOT suppose to do in DEI. I will never forget the comment my Senior VP made during our DEI Day (mind you this was at a MASSIVE FAANG related company that is actually very diverse) "i want to make it clear; we are not actually here to solve issues related to diversity."

Like, you really do have to nip racism in the bud, and college is a good place to do that. So, why did they even hire her though? Just to crucify her?

Another evaluator objected to my presentation of “dangerous ideas” drawn from the scholarship of Sheena Mason, whose theory of “racelessness” presents race as something that can be overcome.

I suspected Mason's work might be inspired by Barbara and Karen Fields', and it apparently is: Mason mentions them here. Mason has also read Walter Benn Michaels's piece on why race is not a social construction.

But when I looked up Tabia Lee (the fired DEI director who authored the Compact article we're discussing), I found that Lee is drastically distorting the Fields sisters' stances. Scroll down to Table 1 here.

Lee says they are "representative authors" of a "race ideology expression" which says "individuals are inherently racist by virtue of their cultural groups which are rooted in race", and "encourages the use of race language for thinking about personal and social identity and policy". This is completely antithetical to Karen or Barbara's actual views.

Mason does not appear to see her own work as being in opposition to the Fields sisters' work, but Lee treats Barbara and Karen as basically on the same team with Robin DiAngelo.
